As a Federal Government employee, I cannot make specific recommendations concerning how to control these rot pathogens. As frustrating as this may be for both myself and the grower or persons interested in control, I have linked a few websites authored by my University collaborators that can make specific recommendations. I hope you find this information helpful.

General rot control guidelines based on my research and the scientific literature:

1) Use of fungicides for apple as specified by the fungicide label

2) Removal of dead wood, leaves, and infected fruit in the trees, on the ground, and the storage environment

3) Store fruit at optimal temperature according to cultivar which ranges from 38.8 to 39.2F
